Dr Alain Chanson graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Lausanne (UNIL) in 1976 and obtained a Ph.D. in 1981 (Professor Paul-Emile Pilet). After completing a postdoc for two years at the University of California (Santa Cruz campus, Professor Lincoln Taiz), he taught for ten years and led a research group at the Institute of Biology and Plant Physiology UNIL, as Lecturer, then as Senior Lecturer and Research Fellow. His research has focused on carriers of protons and calcium in plant cells. In January 1995 he was appointed head of the Laboratory of Hormonology Maternity CHUV, Lausanne. In 1997, during the restructuring of laboratories, he was appointed as Quality Manager of the Laboratory of Andrology and Reproductive Biology. In September 2005 he was hired as a biologist and Quality Manager at the Laboratory of Reproductive Biology (LBR) of the CPMA. Since July 2010, he has been co-chairing the LBR and is responsible for the Quality Management at the CPMA.
His interests are in vitro fertilization, oocyte maturation, quality management and statistics.
Dr Alain Chanson has received several research grants from the FNRS (Swiss national research fund) and other Institutions and has contributed to the publication of over 50 articles in books and scientific journals.
