Dr Dominique Laufer studied at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lausanne, where she graduated in 1975. Her post graduate training began in internal medicine at the Regional Hospital of Porrentruy and in the Health Service of Youth in Geneva. In 1980 she specialized in child psychiatry in Geneva, where she defended her doctoral thesis and received her FMH in child psychiatry. She completed her training in Family Therapy in Toronto (1985-1988) and graduated from Family Therapy Ontario Association of Family Therapy (University of Toronto). Senior resident in the Service of Psychiatry of the child and adolescent in Nyon, she then opened a private practice in the city from 1992 to 2003. She then held the post of Senior Resident in Geneva (Prof.J. Manzano), and in the Medical-Educational and Liaison Service i in the CHUV University Service of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Lausanne (Prof. F. Ansermet).
In October 2005 she joined the staff of the CPMA where she provides a consultation for couples before and during infertility treatment, pregnancy and the postpartum period. She also receives the children of the CPMA patients.
Dr Dominique Laufer continues her research work on the representations that couples have of frozen embryos (Fondation FABER). She also holds a research activity at the Research Unit of the University Service of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Lausanne, and a private practice in child psychiatry in Geneva.
